The Holy City
This holy city is located in western Saudi Arabia and is also known as Makkah. Millions of Muslims make a pilgrimage here, as the pilgrimage is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad was born here, and it is a sacred place for Muslims and the birthplace of Islam.
Non-muslims are not permitted into Mecca and the government of Saudi Arabia issues special visas for people making the pilgrimage. Most people coming to the Mecca will enter via the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah is the gateway to the city.
The Hajj has a fairly set itinerary including a visit to the Sacred Mosque, al-Masjid al-Haram, built around the Kaaba.

Visited for Unrah just after Ramadan( on 3rd Eid).
Visited for Unrah just after Ramadan( on 3rd Eid).
Arrived by super fast train Harmain from Jeddah airport. Easy travel via Mecca shuttle bus from train station to Haram. Only cost 8 SAR-15 min drive.
City was very crowded and overwhelming during this period with very slow traffic around prayer times.
Performed Unrah after Duhr prayer, very crowded.I recommend Unrah after Usha prayer when it is quieter and avoid at least 1-2 weeks after Ramadan.
Book Harmain train tickets via app well in advance as can be expensive and tickets sold old. They only allow one piece of 25 kg luggage and a hand bag.

The best place is of course the Haram Al-sharif.
The best place is of course the Haram Al-sharif. Lots of different kinds of restaurant and food available in the city. If you don't mind riding in a taxi, it's easy to get around unless it's a Friday. Better know what the cost of a trip should be, otherwise you will get gouged by the cab drivers. The cops block off most streets around the Kaaba on Fridays and religious holidays. Mecca is not a fun activity city unless the fun activity is to go pray at the Masjid Al-Haram which really gives you a special happy feeling and soothes your soul when you see the Kaaba in front of you.

It was congested all round the Haram area, best advise to stay little far from there. Even if you stay in any of the 5* to get to Haram and back would be mission.
Avoid Ibraheem Khalil Road especially in last 10 days of Ramadan between 11.30pm to 2am

Taxi is a big challenge, they charge as they wish 50 or 100 SR is nothing for them. Food is costly. Police, security doesn't communicate in any other language only arabic that is little challenging. Some times they r rude.
I couldn't find from where to get a train in mecca to travel to Jeddah. Map shows many locations I was searching, in the mean time I lost my train that was pre booked for 43SR. Had to get a taxi again to Jeddah for 250 SR.

Hotel was fine, but going to Haram need a taxi, I visited in Ramadan 2024, mostly taxi asking 20-30 to drop on Gaza gate from their walking to Haram takes 7-10 minutes. But if you ask taxi to drop near Haram under tunnel gate, which is close to King Fahad gate they ask more money, and in peak time taxi asking very high. Hotel also provide a shuttle 30 minutes before prayers but were shuttle drop need to walk 5-7 minutes to Haram.

Value for money near Haram.
Best location ,located near Haram. 5 min walk to Haram. But if it would have been better if there was a shuttle system while returning back to hotel due to hotel located up hill. Especially when after doing tawaf it would be little tired of walking .
Other than that everything is good.

The location of the hotel is near Haram and it takes only 15 to 17 minutes to Walk. The staff is very cooperative especially house keeping. They were always concerned and ready to help us during our stay at the hotel. The reception team needs more training.
I was extremely moved by the pleasing no problem attitude of the staff even in allowing a little extra time before and after check in and check out. The hotel is very clean with whitest sheets. Something rare in average hotels near haram.
