a fascinating old town. The scattered ruins of old churches give a unique atmosphere. Extremely quiet at night (not recommended if you are looking for night life!). At 20 minutes from Salamis ruins, where you can relax on the beach after the hot and tiring vist of the ruins, it is the ideal place also for exploring Karpax peninsula and the northern coast. I should have stayed more!

We stayed inside the old walled city of Famagusta.
We stayed inside the old walled city of Famagusta. It was wonderful to walk among the buildings of by-gone centuries. It was peaceful, secure and so relaxing. I expected a lot, but received so much more. Our experience was beyond words. It was hard leaving to come back to the hustle and bustle of a large American city.

Beautiful old town.
Beautiful old town. I'd like to recommend a restaurant ( forgot the name) very close to the no less visit worthy Patek (crazy delicious Loukoums!!) with an outdoor terrace in a parking lot. It sound weird, but the service is excellent, the food wonderful, the prices very reasonable and on Fridays and Saturdays there are live concert (amazing and gorgeous woman singer when we visited)

Famagusta may not be as fancy and busy as Larnaca, but it's lacked back charm is great. Plus you can so much more money for money because they use a different currency. Will definitely visit again when I come to Cyprus.
