Beautiful area with gorgeous scenery and incredibly welcoming people at every place we went. So many little wineries to visit, chocolate and cheese. A great place to relax and wind down.
We weren’t that overwhelmed by the brunches we had at Liesure Inn and Eden at the Garden Centre, but the surroundings and lovely people helped overcome that. I think some places rely on the tourist one time visit rather than getting everything right.

It turned out to be an AirBNB.
It turned out to be an AirBNB. Promised breakfast and had to cook myself. Not a good choice. Told by owner I could go out somewhere else to have breakfast!!!! Why when I have paid for it?
Shower over spa tub in bathroom so not easy getting in and out. Tear in one of pillow slips. Furniture not very nice.

It's great for couples, not alot to do for children but we found a few options. Perfect for a weekend getaway and of course a wedding which is why we were there. Super impressed with Brokenwood and the changes they have made.

Pokolbin has quite a few things to do and a number of accommodation options at your disposal. It's just a matter of how much you can afford to spend and how much time you have to see everything. We drove around as this was easiest for a family, although you had the expensive horse and carriage or cheap electric bike hire as other options. The wineries are always a winner, but the Chocolate & Fudge Factory and Cheese Factory are good to visit as well. Take a look at Pepper Tree Vineyard. They offer free use of their gardens/vines for a picnic opportunity, but you do need to book this.

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best.
Hunter Valley Gardens was the best. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort was horrific. Only those visitors who booked with Oaks could use facilities others could not even though we paid the same amount. We were deprived of the use of major facilities at the resort as we booked through booking .com. It was a humiliating experience, awful for my daughter. Heartbreaking. The woman at Oaks reception was vile when explaining the disaster to me.

There are so many activities in Pokolbin, wineries, ballooning, bike riding, bushwalking, the gardens, chocolate, cheese to name a few.
It is also a peaceful place to visit if you want to curl up and read a book.
Great location, felt like a farm stay but was right in the middle of Pokolbin. Our girls loved seeing all the kangaroos! Cabins were spaced well apart and private, and spacious inside. More like renting a house than a cabin. Everything we needed was provided and it was very clean. The breakfast provisions were a lovely touch. It was a wet cold day when we arrived and the owner had put the heater on, making inside warm and welcoming for us. We would definitely stay there again.
Our first time visiting the Hunter Valley on our way home from a driving holiday to Canberra and home is Townsville
It was such a great location and lovely accommodation and close to a really nice new tavern Nineteenth Hunter Valley
Would love to spend a few days and experience all the area has to offer. So glad we choose this place, there was a Wedding happening the same afternoon we checked in and it looked like an amazing spot to get married
Loved Cypress Lakes Resort, we have stayed here before and it was just as beautiful! Breakfast was lovely, it was a very busy weekend and staff were very friendly and kept up with demand. It was really nice that the lady behind the counter serving remembered my husband was waiting for poached eggs even though she was super busy. The room was nice with plenty of room. Cypress lakes is very central and close to the little shopping village.
Located close to the center of Pokolbin and perched on the side of a hill, the view from the balcony was beautiful. If I had visited in Spring/Summer, I would have spent all my time on the balcony. Complimentary transfer from the bistro to the villa was a lifesaver. The villa was beautifully furnished and well equipped. Added touches of fresh milk and complimentary wine were just a bonus.
A great villa with a peaceful and private setting. Felt very homely and was exceptionally clean. Great kitchen facilities, spacious lounge and balcony and very comfortable beds. The resort itself is 5 star and would recommend it over other golf resorts I have stayed at in the Hunter. Great wineries close by, next door to Brokenwood which is a beautiful spot for lunch and a tasting.
Great position for the wineries and we were able to walk to some and to the Hunter Valley Gardens. The hotel has everything you need for swim, restaurant, bar and activities.
We also loved the bar area where we could play pool and sit in lovely chairs in a quiet area and we could see that there were lots of other great options of things to do and look at.
Room was large and the complex was very quiet considering its main road location. Kids loved the pool. Great location - convenient to the Hunter Valley gardens. Water pressure in the shower was amazing. Outside of the building looks to have been recently redecorated. Gardens are lovely and the staff we dealt with were polite.
Beautiful buildings in the heart of the Hunter Valley. the view was amazing and we were able to spot some wild Kangaroos from our verandah. There is a terrific lounge by the bar with a pool table where we were able to sit and enjoy some entertainment a drink and some snacks.
We stayed in a house on the resort and it was fantastic, very spacious, clean, comfy and exceeded our expectations. The Hotel also gave us a free bottle of wine on arrival. The Staff and front reception were friendly. The bar did really nice cocktails.
I liked the location and how quiet it was, I slept so well. It was centrally located and it was a short drive to a lot of the attractions I wanted to visit, if the temperature was cooler it would have been possible to walk to Hunter Valley Gardens.
Loved our stay here in a one bedroom villa. Everything you need for a self contained stay, excellent wifi, great fireplace and beautiful setting. Hope to visit again, great base for exploring the Pokolbin area.
The staff at Spicers Guest House were amazing. Very accommodating! The room was fantastic and the overall feel of the place is something to remember.. I would most definitely recommend it to my friends!
This is the third time we are staying at Spicers Guesthouse and we intend to stay again. The hotel is beautifully design, surrounded by manicured gardens and it feels like country paradise.
Leisure Inn is set in lovely grounds and is very central to wineries, Hunter Valley Gardens, Harrigans pub and Pokolbin village. The units are spacious and very well appointed.
